The Rurals Roar

I rarely blog about what I'm up to in the moment, so I decided to make up for it and babble about my cool life.

Yeah, right. As if.

It's Easter Sunday! For days now, I've been planning to write an Easter post. Well, not exactly about Easter but it involves Easter Eggs. Heh.

See? EASTER EGGS!

Last week during our Liliw, Laguna stay, we spent a day with these kids and we made them paint their Easter eggs for photo ops. They're so creative and cute. I wanted to eat their eggs but I couldn't 'cause my Rurals pals worked hard to boil those eggs for the kids, and I'm not a kid.

Riding the van to Liliw.

Liliw, Laguna is known for its gorgeous slippers. (So yeah, we went slipper-shopping before the Rurals ended. Oh so cheap compared to Manila prices.)

Arrival at Liliw venue, by the batis.
From left: Nev (AdMU - IS), Christine (from Rosehill to AdMU), Cedes (from Rosehill to UP Manila INTARMED), Patty (AdMU), Angel (UP Diliman, Streetdance Club), Iwi (UP Diliman- Tourism), Carmel (from Woodrose to AdMU Fil Lit), Mimi (sa tabi tabi nag-aaral), Ria (UA&P - Econ), DB (UP Diliman - Eng'g), and Evita (PLM - Archi), and Cocoy who's taking the picture (AdMU - Health Sci).

Me and fourteen other girls spent 8 days in Liliw, Laguna, lodging in Yap family's resthouse near the river. It was a beautiful place. Every day, we meditated by the kubo overlooking the stream and the forest and it was so peaceful and happy in a serene way.

We woke up for early morning daily Mass at the Nagcarlan Church. The church was the renowned Kampanerang Kuba church. I couldn't believe I was walking on the very ground that Patrick Garcia stepped on. Whoo. Gracious.

A Night with the Celebrities.

Aside from our bunch, four "celebrities" came to help out in the Rurals project too. There were two UP taekwondo varsity players (one who played in the SEA games), UP dance sport and weightlifting varsity, and an Eng'g student. Man, we were all star-strucked when they demonstrated their talents in the get-together one night.

Carmel, my bloody washing partner.

Medical-Dental Mission day. Carmel and I volunteered to wash the dental instruments that were used to extract teeth of people who went for dental consultation. Fortunately, Carmel and I are the type that doesn't get all prissy about blood. But, heck, we did it for the entire day. It was fun though, but yeah, dangerous.

The Rurals Roar! (Ako ang isa sa mga naka-nganga at naka-rock sign sa likod. Hehe.)

Nope, this wasn't after a rock concert. This was after the Medical-Dental Mission. Everyone was definitely tired but no one felt it.

If there was something we were tired of, it was swatting flies on our dining table. Introducing:
THE SWAT TEAM. :P
